The 2020 American Silver Eagle is the official silver bullion coin of the United States, struck by the U.S. Mint in Brilliant Uncirculated (BU) condition. Each coin contains one troy ounce of .999 fine silver with a $1 legal tender face value.
The obverse features the iconic Walking Liberty design by Adolph Alexander Weinman, originally created for the 1916-1947 half dollar. Lady Liberty is depicted striding confidently toward the rising sun, draped in the American flag. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle behind a shield, clutching an olive branch and arrows.
This is a Type 1 design coin, the final years before the 2021 reverse redesign. The 2020 mintage was notably affected by COVID-19, with the West Point Mint temporarily closing and emergency production occurring at the Philadelphia Mint.
